After training as a stucco plasterer in 1996 in Frankfurt am Main, Stephan Gervers later worked in the same field in Copenhagen. One year later, he commenced study focusing on painting and drawing at the Offenbach University of Art and Design (HfG), while subsequently expanding the scope in later semesters to encompass fields of graphic design and multimedia and themes including wall illustrations and relief works.
The first Stukkolief was created in 2003 directly on the wall of the university itself and can be considered the founding moment of the Stukkolief concept as it now exists. Before and after his degree study, designer Stephan Gervers expanded his own scope of experience with involvement in the agency sector, but it was not until participation in the Talents competition at the world’s largest consumer goods fair “atmosphere” in Frankfurt am Main, 2010 that the Stukkolief would once again take precedence in the life of Stephan Gervers. The splendid trade fair response spurred his plans to relocate to Switzerland to bigger and better things: on 1 July, 2010 he founded the Gervers design studio in Uster, in the canton of Zürich. His goal? To pave the way to Stukkolief becoming an art and design icon for the greatest possible circle of customers.
